At approximately 335am, the Department was dispatched to the area of the Columbus Park neighborhood for an odor of smoke in the area. Crews searched the surrounding areas for almost an hour until ultimately finding one of the buildings on the abandoned U.S Pipe property on fire at 418am. Tower 9035 requested the structure fire be dispatched and went to work to extinguish the fire. Extinguishment was hampered at first due to the amount of papers in the rooms. With the need of manpower to assist with sifting through this, a 2nd alarm was requested by Deputy 9001. The fire was placed under control at 656am and no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigated by the City of Burlington Fire Marshal's office.
